The Association for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (AEPD) uses a survivor-centric approach based on a peer-support model to empower persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Quang Binh, Vietnam. From a lack of economic opportunities to stigma and discrimination, PWDs in the province face many obstacles in daily life. Therefore, AEPD’s interventions are designed by local staff to be both comprehensive and holistic. AEPD focuses on five different sectors: (i) health care support, (ii) sustainable livelihood, (iii) social inclusion, (iv) advocacy and (v) community-based disaster risk management.
Our team of dedicated outreach workers are uniquely equipped to carry out our support activities. They are all PWDs themselves. Once our beneficiaries have received support, they are encouraged to give back to the community by supporting fellow PWDs in their own recovery. We expand the impact of our interventions by helping PWDs help themselves and their community.
Will you help us continue this cycle of goodness in Central Vietnam? Together, we can make a real difference.
