Over the past eighteen years, Huashan Social Welfare Foundation has been providing the underprivileged elderly, total about 21,500 at present, who suffer from dementia, are physically challenged or live alone in our surrounding communities in Taiwan (R.O.C) with free caring services to their homes.
Taiwan has become an aged society. According to the Ministry of lnterior, people 65 or older amounted to 14.1 percent of total population in Taiwan in 2018, over the standard set by WHO for an aged society. Obviously, senior citizen welfare has become an inevitable issue that needs to be handled carefully for the government and the society as a whole.
Huashan Social Welfare Foundation has set up “community half-way station” in every township, a total of 383, all around Taiwan, even in outlying islands Kinmen and Penghu, to provide home-based geriatric day care for local communities, right on the way to build one station in a population of 50,000, bringing about penetrating the local thoroughly due to the rapid change in aging society nowadays. Caring services include home visits by volunteers, accompanying to health clinics/hospitals for medical treatment, bathing, material need assistance, and transferring to proper care facility and the like.
The Duanwu Festival(Dragon Boat Festival), which is one of the three major celebrated festivals together with Chinese New Year and the Moon Festival in Taiwan, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. Huashan Social Welfare Foundation will accompany the underprivileged elders and give them love and care during these meaningful festivals. Huashan Social Welfare Foundation launches “Love the elderly, let’s take action!” (Ai lao ren, Dong qi lai) campaign to accompany the underprivileged elders, not only with giving them the caring gifts but fundraising for the perennial services fees (incurred cost when giving free home-visiting caring services above to the elders who are physically challenged, suffer from dementia, live alone). The gifts contain zongzi (known as rice dumplings), and a useful and meaningful incense-bag-shaped purse for the occasion and other material supports, in hope of dispelling evil spirits and bring health and happiness to the elders.
Any support will be highly appreciated by us and the elderly that we provide a service to. And please don’t hesitate to contact me through the phone number below or via email at email@example.com, if you have any queries.
